According to the relevant person in charge of the Water Resources Management Department of the Ministry of Water Resources, the implementation scope of the 2023 ecological environment recovery action for rivers and lakes in North China mainly includes 7 river systems, including Yongding River, Daqing River, Ziya River, Zhangwei River, and 40 rivers and lakes, with a total length of approximately 4838 kilometers. In comprehensive consideration of river system, current situation of rivers and lakes, water source conditions, ecological function positioning and other factors, the Ministry of Water Resources has chosen to carry out centralized water supply for the Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal, Yongding River and Zhanghe River to achieve the full line of water flow. Among them, the Zhanghe River achieved full water flow connection on April 3rd. The Water Resources Management Department of the Ministry of Water Resources predicts that by 2023, the ecological environment of rivers and lakes in North China can recover and replenish 2.768 billion cubic meters of water. By implementing ecological replenishment of rivers and lakes, effectively increasing groundwater recharge, and achieving a significant improvement in the morphology of rivers and lakes, approximately 1.65 million acres of arable land along the line have been replaced with groundwater irrigation water, with an infiltration volume of no less than 800 million cubic meters. The proportion of rivers with water continuously exceeds 25%, promoting the improvement of the ecological environment of rivers and lakes in North China. (New News Agency)
