The rectification of online misconduct such as cyber violence requires the joint participation of multiple entities such as administrative supervision, internet platforms, and netizens. We should work together to purify the network ecology and create a positive, healthy, clear and orderly network environment. In recent days, the case of online violence against a girl who survived the Wenchuan earthquake, known online as "Brother Chunyou," has continued to ferment. Her public private mail records show that some netizens have verbally insulted and maliciously harassed her. In recent years, the network has played an increasingly important role in people's lives. While bringing convenience to people, the network has also brought online violence, which has made countless people turn pale at the sight of it. With the increasing harm of online violence, people are paying more attention to the governance of online violence. On the morning of March 28, the Information Office of the State Council held a press conference. At the meeting, the relevant person in charge of the National Internet Information Office introduced the relevant situation of the "Qinglang" series of special actions in 2023, including the "Qinglang · Network Violence Control", a special action related to the governance of online violence. How big is the harm of online violence? How to better identify online violence? What measures should be taken to combat cyber violence? The reporter interviewed relevant experts on the above issues. "The harm of online violence is enormous. Generally speaking, individuals or groups consciously spread offensive statements through the network to repeatedly and continuously commit violations against a specific individual or group, which is known as online violence." Chen Lei, director of the Center for Litigation and Judicial System Research at the Law School of Capital University of Economics and Trade, pointed out, "The forms of online violence mainly include threats, harassment, insults, and social isolation, and behaviors are often accompanied by violations of others' reputation, disclosure of others' privacy, and so on." Online violence incidents similar to those experienced by girls who survived the Wenchuan earthquake are not unique. In recent years, the Liu Xuezhou incident and the Pink Hair Girl incident have all involved cyber violence. These events have caused extremely negative consequences and caused widespread concern in society. Some of the victims of cyber violence have either fallen into long-term depression and self doubt, or become victims of serious psychological diseases such as depression, and some have even chosen to end their lives. In the face of the harm caused by cyber violence, it is imperative to scientifically identify and effectively manage cyber violence. At a news conference held recently, the relevant person in charge of the National Internet Information Office stated that in recent years, the National Internet Information Office has continued to carry out a series of "Qinglang" special actions, vigorously addressing prominent issues in the network ecology, including online violence, pressing and compacting the main responsibilities of the website platform, actively responding to the concerns of the people, and effectively safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of Internet users. Among them, the special action of "Qinglang · Harnessing Internet Violence" mainly focuses on strictly controlling the information content of the comment area, urging website platforms to strengthen the management of the comment area, and striving to eradicate the breeding ground for prominent issues in the network ecology such as online violence. It is understood that in 2022, the 13 "Qinglang" series of special actions were carried out, with a total of over 54.3 million illegal and unhealthy information cleared up, over 6.8 million accounts disposed of, over 2890 apps and small programs removed from the shelves, 260000 disbanded and closed groups, post bars, etc., and over 7300 websites closed, which are under governance
