Attaching importance to investigation and research is an important heirloom of our Party's leadership in various historical periods of revolution, construction, and reform, and a fundamental skill for doing all work well. Recently, the General Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has issued the "Work Plan on Promoting Investigation and Research in the Whole Party", which profoundly clarifies the significance, overall requirements, research content, methods and steps, and work requirements of promoting investigation and research in the whole party in the new era and new journey. This is both a pragmatic declaration and an inspiring mobilization order. To vigorously promote investigation and research, we must adhere to the Party's mass line. Comrade Mao Zedong once said, "Without full enthusiasm, determination with eyes down, desire for knowledge, and the spirit to put down the stinking airs and be willing to be a primary school student, we cannot and cannot do it well.". In investigation and research, we must not engage in formalism, in the form of "skimming on the surface" research that cannot be easily understood, in the form of "imperial envoy" research that involves too much instruction and too little seeking advice with an open mind, in the form of "being investigated" that lacks autonomy and initiative, in the form of "being investigated" that involves too much research in places with outstanding work achievements, and in the form of "cherishing poverty and loving wealth" that involves too little research in places with complex situations and prominent contradictions. We should truly worship the people as our teachers, learn from them, put down our airs, lean down, connect with the ground, and understand the emotions of the people. We should grasp the most urgent, worrisome, and resentful issues of the people, solve the most immediate, and realistic interests of the people, consciously learn from the people and practice, gain a correct understanding from the people's creative practice, and turn the correct propositions of the Party into conscious actions of the people. To promote investigation and research, we must adhere to seeking truth from facts. Seeking truth from facts is the basic principle of Marxism and the Party's consistent ideological line. Our Party has built up and flourished by seeking truth from facts. After the reform and opening up, Comrade Deng Xiaoping pointed out profoundly from the reality of reform and development: "The success of our reform and opening up does not depend on the fundamentals, but on practice and seeking truth from facts." The CPC is a materialist. Adhering to the principle of proceeding from reality and seeking truth from facts is not only a question of ideological methods, but also a question of strong party spirit. To do a good job of investigation and research in the new era, we must adhere to the principle of party spirit, proceed from reality in everything, and integrate theory with practice. There are two ways: one is to report good news and the other is to report bad news. We should go deep into the reality, the grassroots, and the masses, investigate and understand the true situation, discover real problems, and form true thinking at multiple levels, in multiple directions, and through multiple channels. We should not only focus on books, not only on top, but only on reality. This is related to the hearts of the people and party spirit. To promote investigation and research, we must adhere to the problem orientation. Marx pointed out that "Problem is the slogan of the times, and the most practical voice for it to express its own mental state." Investigation and research is the investigation, understanding, and analysis of objective and practical situations, with the purpose of clarifying the truth and overall picture of events, grasping the essence and rules of the problem accurately, and putting the ideas and principles for solving the problem into perspective
