On the 27th, Lu Chengquan, President of the Malaysian Chinese General Chamber of Commerce (hereinafter referred to as "China General Chamber") and member of the upper house of the Malaysian Parliament, said that the Malaysian business community has high hopes for Prime Minister Anwar's visit to China and hopes that this visit can promote cooperation between Malaysia and China in various fields. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar will attend the 2023 annual meeting of the Boao Forum for Asia and pay an official visit to China in conjunction with his attendance at the annual meeting. Lu Chengquan said that this is Anwar's first visit to China since becoming Prime Minister, and it is also the first Malaysian Prime Minister to visit China in the post epidemic era. He believes that the meeting between Malaysian and Chinese leaders will effectively enhance mutual trust and deepen cooperation in various fields. "This year also coincides with the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Malaysia and China. The Chinese President hopes that this trip can lay a solid foundation for the development of the Malaysia-China relationship in the next stage, help the bilateral relationship reach new milestones, and promote Malaysia-China cooperation to achieve more fruitful results." Lu Chengquan recalled that over the past 10 years, bilateral economic and trade exchanges between Malaysia and China have reached new highs year by year, and China has become Malaysia's largest trading partner for 14 consecutive years. According to Malaysian data, in 2022, Malaysia's exports to China accounted for 13.6% of Malaysia's total exports, while imports from China accounted for 21.3% of Malaysia's total imports. Civil exchanges between the two sides have also become increasingly frequent, with Chinese tourists visiting Malaysia breaking the 3 million person time barrier in 2019. Looking forward to the prospects of Malaysia-China economic and trade cooperation, Lu Chengquan introduced that, in cooperation with Anwar's visit to China, he would lead a delegation of Malaysian businessmen to China to visit China and hold the "Malaysia China Business Summit Forum". Lu Chengquan expects that this visit will open up more opportunities for Malaysia-China cooperation, promote Malaysia-China enterprises to cooperate together in more fields, and assist both enterprises in jointly exploring the regional comprehensive economic partnership agreement (RCEP) market. "The cooperation between the two countries in industrial parks, infrastructure, 5G communication, digital economy, tourism and other fields is also expected to achieve more fruitful results and create a win-win situation."
