2023-03-27
The "Museum Summit Forum 2023" opened at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center on the 24th. The forum will last until the 25th, and 35 museum representatives from around the world will share professional experience, research results, and innovative ideas. As an international event in the museum industry, this forum is hosted by the Leisure and Cultural Affairs Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government, and co sponsored by the Ufizi Art Museum in Italy. The theme of the forum is "Wujian", which covers cultural exchanges in different places, the re creation of new and old cultural facilities, the connection between museums and communities, and the new possibilities of online and offline spatial integration brought about by technological development. The Secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Chen Guoji, delivered a speech saying that in the future development planning of the cultural and creative industries, Hong Kong will focus on upgrading the urban cultural and artistic construction, including museum facilities. This forum marks the new beginning of establishing and deepening partnerships between practitioners in the museum industry in Hong Kong and around the world. Gu Yucai, Deputy Director of the National Cutural Heritage Administration, introduced the rapid development of Chinese museums in his opening speech. He pointed out that by the end of 2022, the number of museums in China had exceeded 6000, with a collection of over 58 million artifacts. The role of museums in inheriting the excellent traditional Chinese culture and promoting exchanges and mutual learning among different civilizations is increasingly prominent. Ike Schmidt, curator of the Ufizi Art Museum in Italy, believes that modern museums give people the power to reflect on the past and create the future. The rise of digital platforms has also provided museums with opportunities to cross national borders and reach more audiences. This year is the third time that the forum has been held in Hong Kong since 2017 and 2019. (Liao Xinshe)
