The Eyes and Steps of a Group of Medical Experts

Experts from the General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army regularly conduct training for grassroots health personnel. Fan Ping took a brand new change. According to the latest data from a division in the Beijing garrison region, the incidence of training injuries among recruits in the division has significantly decreased compared to the past. Last year, the division was identified as the first "military training injury prevention and control demonstration base" of the entire army, implementing a new training injury prevention and control law of "hierarchical training, early warning monitoring, autonomous mutual treatment, and rapid recovery.". For a year, in this division, injured officers and soldiers can "rest, treat, and train while training" according to regulations. "Officers and soldiers with lower limb injuries receive upper limb training through rehabilitation equipment, and medical experts provide guidance and training throughout the process." Chen Pei, the head of the division's health department, told reporters, "According to this regulation, new standards have been established for training injury diagnosis, temporary suspension of recurrent training, and so on." This division undertakes new training tasks every year. After experiencing multiple changes in body, mind, and environment in a short period of time, it is inevitable for recruits to experience injuries during training. "It takes several days to recover from skin injuries, 1-2 weeks to recover from muscle and bone injuries, and longer to recover from injuries such as fractures," Chen Pei said. With new measures for prevention and control, issues such as "slow recovery of injuries, high incidence of secondary injuries, and difficulty in grasping the timing of retraining" that were prone to occur in the past in training injury prevention and treatment can be readily solved. This spring, in a Marine Corps brigade thousands of kilometers away from the division, there are also many new changes in the new training ground - the training intensity of the same batch of soldiers is no longer "walking in unison": some soldiers undergo basic physical training, some undergo intensive training, and some have begun professional technical training. The brigade is located in a high incidence zone of heat radiation disease. Some grassroots training backbones have bluntly stated, "In a hot and humid environment, who can increase the amount of training, and who needs to reduce the amount of training, are all knowledge." After long-term participation in training program settings, grassroots training backbones have accumulated experience, but unified training standards have not yet been formed at all levels. At the end of last year, with the newly revised "Health Protection Regulations for Military Training", "Classification and Diagnostic Standards for Military Training Injuries", and "Medical Standards for Temporary Suspension and Resumption of Military Training (Trial)", there was a scientific basis for standardizing military training at all levels. Also during this period, the first grassroots thermal endurance testing laboratory of the entire army landed in the brigade. The brigade conducts "thermal endurance testing" for its officers and soldiers to understand their ability to withstand thermal environments, and conducts "thermal acclimatization" training to improve thermal endurance. Wu Tinglong, a military doctor of the brigade, said that since the establishment of the laboratory, the probability of heatstroke among officers and soldiers has reached a record low over the years, and "it seems that the heat radiation disease has disappeared overnight.". Looking at the military training ground, there are various signs that the impact of training mode and regional environment on the health status of officers and soldiers is gradually decreasing. Behind this gratifying change, it is inseparable from the continuous efforts of military medical experts. In recent years, hundreds of military medical units, including the Fourth Medical Center of the General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army, and more than 650 training injury prevention and treatment experts have entered the training ground to conduct patrols and surveys, and trained 55000 grassroots health personnel. A four-level prevention and treatment system for military training injuries is being formed.
