Another Way to Distinguish Truth from Falsity -- On the Possibility of Yue Fei's Writing Man Jianghong

2023-03-20

Author: Wang Ruilai (professor of Sichuan University), accompanied by the movie "Man Jianghong", the authenticity of Yue Fei's "Man Jianghong" words was raised again. Up to now, no direct evidence has been found for Yue Fei's writing of the words "Man Jianghong", whether it is confirmed or identified. However, this does not prevent people from conducting textual research from various perspectives. Not only the author of "Man Jianghong", but also the author of the four famous classics of classical literature and even the author of "Jinpingmei" also have different opinions, most of which are based on circumstantial references and "encircle for help". Such research is not meaningless, but also broadens our thinking and approaches the truth to varying degrees. However, even when using circumstantial evidence to investigate, it is necessary to jump out of the mindset. The timeliness of the use of language materials is a way for me to investigate the authenticity of the words in Man Jianghong in recent years. Recently, I read through the literature and tried to prove the possibility of Yue Fei as the author of Man Jianghong from some indirect evidence shown in the historical data. One of the indirect evidences is Yue Fei's own poetry. As Huang Renyu, author of "The Fifteen Years of Wanli," said, "Yue Fei is different from Guan Yu, he is proficient in writing and ink.". According to my collection, Yue Fei has nearly 20 poems left in the world. The use of words and images in these poems are similar to those in Man Jianghong. For example, in the poem "Send Lin Hui to the East to the Sea People", "The achievements should be published on the Yanshi", and in the poem "Small Heavy Mountain", "The white head is the official title", which is close to the words "Thirty achievements and fame, dust and earth, eight thousand miles of cloud and moon. Don't wait for leisure, white young head, empty and sad" in the poem "Man Jianghong", and the meaning of the article is close. In the words of "Man Jianghong, Feeling of Climbing the Yellow Crane Tower", "When do you want to take a sharp trip and cross the Qingheluo River with a whip", it is very similar to "driving a long car to break through Helan Mountain". The "Helan Mountain" in the words has become the main evidence for falsification by some scholars. In fact, as many scholars have cited a large number of examples, the northern mountain range Helan Mountain is just an empty reference in the word. Regarding this point, one can also cite a newly discovered seven-character poem by Yue Fei in Japan in recent years, in which two sentences are: "Men intentionally support China, and it is not easy to return without cutting off Loulan." The term "Loulan" here is clearly an empty reference, which can also prove that the same author's "Helan Mountain" is not a real reference. This is an author's way of expressing himself. The second indirect evidence is the words used by the people of the Song Dynasty, especially Yue Fei's contemporaries, which can confirm each other with the words in Man Jianghong. There are many circumstantial evidences of this kind. For example, the note "Crane Forest Jade Dew" written by Luo Dajing of the Southern Song Dynasty, which I collated and published in 1983, contains the words "Man Jianghong" written by a monk named Hui An who lived in the early years of the Southern Song Dynasty. Among them, there is a sentence "Man Jiang Hong", "Man Jiang Hong". Compared to "Mo Yixian, Bai Youtou, Empty Sadness", it is very similar to the evolution of the same pattern. This reflects the mutual influence of contemporary people in terms of language. In Zhu Dunru's "Meet and Have a Pleasure" poem, which was written at the same time as Yue Fei, there is also a similar expression, "sigh that I have so casually whitened my young head.". Wang Mai, later than Yue Fei, wrote in the poem "Gives Guo Five Stars" that he "quickly whitened the young man's head.". In addition to the "white young head", it can be seen in the first sentence of Yue Fei's "Man Jianghong", which has a long history of allusions. The "Robber Zhi Smells Big" in "Zhuangzi Robber Zhi"
