"Thank you for your coming" -- On the drug donation and inspection tour carried out by the Chinese peacekeeping medical team in Lebanon

2023-03-16

"Thank you for your coming. Today is our happiest day... Thank you! Thank China!" Mansur, the head of Kafahama village in Lebanon, said excitedly to the Chinese medical team. On the 13th, at the invitation of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), China's 21st batch of peacekeeping medical teams sent medical personnel to the village of Qafahama to carry out drug donation and inspection tours. Located in the border area of southern Lebanon near Israel, the village of Qafa Hama has been the front line of many years of war. The local medical conditions are weak, and the people face the difficulty of lacking medical care for a long time. Recently, with the continuous friction between Lebanon and Israel, the economic and political crisis in Lebanon has been intertwined, which has exacerbated this dilemma. After accepting the invitation, the Chinese peacekeeping medical team actively docked with local clinics, donated 52 kinds of commonly used drugs and 6 kinds of medical consumables, such as antibacterial drugs and external drugs, and sent a visiting team to provide on-site medical services. Along the rugged road, Chinese medical personnel visited the families of six patients who were difficult to go out for medical treatment in the village. The whole process lasted nearly seven hours. Among them, the patient Yomuna Khalil had a brain drainage operation 17 years ago, but due to local medical conditions, the sequelae were obvious, resulting in paralysis of the right half of the body and long-term bed rest. Because of his poor family, Khalil has only been treated once in the village clinic in the past seven years, and his condition is difficult to control. After fully understanding the situation, the visiting doctor Zheng Xiyuan suggested that the patient take anti-epileptic drugs regularly for a long time to control the condition and give corresponding drugs in combination with the patient's current symptoms. When the medical staff was about to leave, Mansur, the head of the village of Qafa Hama, said sincerely: "You have provided us with great help in the voluntary diagnosis and treatment of our patients. Thank you! Thank you!" "The family doctor service of door-to-door inspection is also the first time in UNIFIL." said Eva, the head of the civil department of the UNIFIL East Command, "This makes me deeply feel that the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind put forward by China is not a slogan, but fully reflects the practical work and friendliness of the Chinese government and people." Since the deployment in August 2022, the 21st batch of Chinese medical teams to Lebanon have actively carried out humanitarian assistance to the local people in various ways, including free clinics and donations, while successfully carrying out various peacekeeping missions.
