At the 120th anniversary of the establishment of Xiling Seal Engraving Society, the "Impression · Artistic Works - Art Exhibition of Xiling Seal Engraving Society Members", jointly sponsored by the Shenyang Palace Museum and Xiling Seal Engraving Society, was held in the Shenyang Palace Museum on the 14th, with 59 pieces (groups) of works showing the history and style of Xiling for a hundred years. Xiling Seal Engraving Society was founded in the thirtieth year of Guangxu's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1904), with the purpose of "preserving epigraphy, studying seal engraving, and painting and calligraphy". It is the art group with the longest history, the highest achievements, and the widest influence in the study of epigraphy and seal engraving at home and abroad, and is known as the "No.1 Society in the World". In 1913, Wu Changshuo became the first president. Since then, Xiling Seal Engraving Society has developed rapidly. Li Shutong, Huang Binhong, Feng Zikai and others are members of Xiling Seal Engraving Society. They are all outstanding masters of seal cutting, calligraphy and painting, collection, archaeology, literature and history. The works on display in this exhibition are all by members of Xiling Seal Engraving Society, covering seal cutting, calligraphy and painting, including 26 seals, 29 calligraphies and 4 paintings. In the exhibition, the seals are of high quality, with both Zhuwen and Baiwen seals. The stones used include the four major seal stones in China - Shoushan stone, Qingtian stone, Changshi stone and Balin stone. The seal cutting content includes both traditional themes such as poetry, sentence and aphorism, as well as new creations closely related to the theme of the times. For example, Liu Jiang, the executive president of Xiling Seal Engraving Society, wrote the "glorious history" of the white text Shoushan stone seal. In terms of calligraphy, the works on display include seal script, official script, running script, cursive script and other calligraphies. The contents of the books include poems of famous writers such as Wang Wei, Lu You, Shi Tao, and idioms with figurative moral characters such as "high mountains and high mountains and high mountains", "virtue and thick streams of light", as well as five-character and seven-character couplets, such as the running script axis of Lv Guozhang, honorary vice president of Xiling Seal Engraving Society. In terms of painting, the four paintings on display combine poetry, calligraphy, painting and printing in addition to painting techniques, showing the aesthetic pursuit of traditional art. Fu Bo, director of the art research department of the Shenyang Palace Museum, said that the joint exhibition with Xiling Seal Engraving Society was the first time that the Shenyang Palace Museum cooperated with the literati association and the professional academic group of stone carving, aiming at popularizing traditional calligraphy, painting, seal cutting and other cultural knowledge and inheriting and carrying forward the excellent traditional Chinese culture through the art form of stone carving.
