In an exclusive interview with a reporter from Xinhua News Agency at his home in the eastern city of Peterborough, the chairman of the Royal Institute of East-West Strategic Studies of the UK said that after witnessing and understanding Chinese-style democracy, he found that the practice of Chinese-style democracy can solve practical problems and is effective democracy. Yi Si is 56 years old and his real name is Jean-Christov Iser Pfeiten, but he prefers to use the Chinese name "Yi Si". He can speak fluent Chinese, and has an indissoluble bond with China at the end of the 20th century. He once served as a special member of the CPPCC in Changchun, Jilin Province, and also served as a consultant of the CPPCC in Shanghai. As a participant in Chinese-style democracy, Yi Si explained how the local CPPCC can help solve practical problems through his experience as a special member of the Changchun CPPCC. Yi Si said that at the time of China's accession to the WTO, facing fierce competition for imported agricultural products, how to promote industrial optimization, improve the competitiveness of local agricultural products, and promote agricultural production was one of the focuses of the CPPCC Changchun Municipal Committee at that time. After investigation and research, Yisi, based on its experience in working in the WTO, made suggestions to solve this problem and put forward highly targeted and operable suggestions. "I am glad to see that the Changchun Municipal Government finally adopted my suggestion," Yi Si said. Yi Si said that through his own experience in the work of the CPPCC, he found that members of the CPPCC came from all walks of life, and the CPPCC proposals were put forward by members from all walks of life. Most of the CPPCC proposals were "very practical and grounded", focusing on solving important social and economic problems, and providing suggestions for the formulation of laws and relevant policies. Yi Si said that the concept of democracy could not be defined by a unified Western-style democracy. He is writing the book "On Democracy in China". Yi Si said that Chinese-style democracy is of referential significance. He hopes to introduce the achievements of China's democracy construction to the international community in detail based on the real situation he has seen and learned in Changchun, Shanghai and other places over the years.
