On February 24, the "Golden Cobra - 2023" multinational joint exercise for humanitarian relief and disaster reduction was opened in Rayong, Thailand. Participants from 9 countries including China, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia attended. In the tabletop exercise that began on the 24th and 25th, seven military and civilian experts from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the International Red Cross, the ASEAN Disaster Management and Coordination Center for Humanitarian Assistance and other professional institutions gave lectures against the background of the flood disaster caused by the tropical storm in the disaster-affected country, and randomly divided the participants from all sides into eight groups to conduct the simulated tabletop exercise. It is understood that the joint performance will continue until March 10. The Chinese side sent a 25-person live unit to participate in the exercise, which was mainly drawn from a brigade of the 75th Group Army, and mainly participated in the actual exercise of courses including engineering assistance and construction, humanitarian relief and disaster reduction tabletop exercise, high-level forum, and medical first aid, fire rescue, etc. Previously, the participating teams have systematically studied the standard operational procedures of the multinational force, the ASEAN disaster emergency response, the Thai disaster prevention and mitigation system and other courses, focusing on more than 10 professional courses, such as aerial rescue, water rescue, shaft rescue, medical service rescue, and engineering construction, to lay a solid foundation for successfully completing the participating tasks. Peng Xiaofei, the leader of the Chinese military unit, said that the joint exercise is not only a window to show the professionalism and rescue capability of the Chinese military, but also an important platform to show the good image of the major military, and is conducive to contributing more Chinese forces to the implementation of international humanitarian relief tasks. The "Golden Cobra" exercise is an influential joint military exercise in Southeast Asia. This is the 10th consecutive time that our army has been invited to participate in the performance since 2014.
