The reporter learned from the Fifth Academy that the Zhongxing 26 satellite will provide high-speed broadband access services for fixed terminals, vehicle-mounted terminals, ship-borne terminals and airborne terminals in China's territory and surrounding areas, and can play an important role in aviation, navigation, distance education and medical treatment, natural disaster emergency communication, natural reserve monitoring and other fields. The network data of daily internet access is obtained based on direct internet cable or wireless routing. However, how to maintain internet contact with the ground in extreme environments such as airplanes flying at 10000 meters high, fishing boats sailing in the sea and deep mountains in the desert? This is a good opportunity for Zhongxing 26 to show its skills. When the user terminals such as aircraft and fishing boats send out the communication demand signal, the antenna subsystem of the satellite starts to receive the signal. After the signal is amplified, converted and amplified by the transponder subsystem, it is converted into a downlink signal, and then transmitted to the ground gateway station through the antenna subsystem. The gateway station will process the access signal and upload it to the Zhongxing 26 satellite, and then forward it to the target user. The satellite connects the user terminal and the ground station together, and builds a satellite-ground integrated link to make the transmission of voice, picture, video and other data services unimpeded, which will greatly meet the Internet service needs of users in various application scenarios such as air, sea and remote areas. Among the high-throughput communication satellites launched by China in the past, the communication capacity of Zhongxing 16 satellite and Asia-Pacific 6D satellite is 20Gbps and 50Gbps respectively. The communication capacity of Zhongxing 26 satellite has achieved leapfrog development on the basis of these two satellites, which is of milestone significance. According to the development goal, the satellite can meet the needs of millions of user terminals at the same time, with a maximum communication rate of 450Mbps, and its overall performance can match the international level. According to Wei Qiang, the commander in chief of the Zhongxing 26 satellite of the Fifth Academy of Sciences, Sichuan Airlines installed Viasat airborne Internet equipment on some Airbus A320 aircraft at the end of 2022. These aircraft have now been connected to the Ka-band satellite network mainly based on the Zhongxing 16 satellite through Viasat terminal equipment to provide passengers with airborne Internet services. When passengers use mobile phones, tablets, etc. to connect to the Internet in the air, the network runs smoothly and has a good experience. "We believe that with the in-orbit application of the Zhongxing 26 satellite, the breadth and depth of the satellite Internet business coverage will be improved to a greater extent, and the new era of satellite Internet services in China will be fully opened," said Wei Qiang.
