A 6.8 magnitude earthquake occurred in the sea area near North Maluku Province in eastern Indonesia in the early morning of the 24th. There are no reports of casualties and property losses. According to the website of the Indonesian Bureau of Meteorology, Climate and Geophysics, the earthquake occurred at 3:2 on the 24th, Jakarta time (4:2 Beijing time). The epicenter was located in the sea area 133 kilometers northwest of Morotai Island, North Maluku Province, with a focal depth of 112 kilometers. The bureau did not issue a tsunami warning for the earthquake. According to the seismological information network of the United States Geological Survey, the magnitude of the earthquake was 6.3 and the focal depth was 97 km. Indonesia is located in the Pacific Rim seismic belt, with thousands of large and small earthquakes every year.
