The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government announced on the 16th that it had successfully sold HK $800 million of tokenized green bonds under the government's green bond plan. This is the first global tokenized green bond issued by the government. This one-year Hong Kong dollar tokenized green bond held an online roadshow earlier this week and was priced on February 15 with a yield of 4.05%. The related offering is underwritten by four banks, two of which also act as the investor custodian bank. Chen Maobo, the Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong SAR Government, said that Hong Kong has been actively promoting the application of innovative technology in the financial field and actively exploring new concepts and technologies to improve the efficiency, transparency and security of financial transactions. This successful issuance of token green bonds shows Hong Kong's advantages in combining the bond market, green and sustainable finance, and financial technology, which is a milestone. The SAR government will continue to promote the innovative development of the financial market. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority, as the representative of the Hong Kong SAR government under the green bond plan, will release a white paper in due time to summarize the experience of this issue and look forward to the next step of the plan, providing a reference for the issuance of token bonds in Hong Kong.
