Strive to develop new principles, new methods and new technologies for uranium mining and smelting

As an educator and scientific and technological worker in uranium mining and smelting, I deeply feel the great responsibility and glorious mission. Uranium is the "grain" of the nuclear industry, and uranium mining and smelting is the pillar industry of the nuclear industry. It is a century-old plan for national security to train professionals in uranium mining and metallurgy, develop new principles, methods and technologies for uranium mining and metallurgy, and ensure the "food" security of the nuclear industry. Thirty-six years ago, I came to Nanhua University in Hengyang from Changsha, the provincial capital. Since then, with my colleagues, I have devoted myself to the noble cause of talent training and scientific research in uranium mining and metallurgy, with the original intention of serving the country and focusing on the major strategic needs of the nuclear industry for uranium. The specialty of uranium mining and metallurgy has been rebuilt successively, the national defense science and technology innovation team of uranium mining and metallurgy, the national defense key discipline laboratory, and the national defense characteristic discipline have been established, and the master's degree, doctor's degree, and post-doctoral research flow station of uranium mining and metallurgy have been successfully applied. Finally, the only complete discipline and professional system for training the bachelor's degree, master's degree, doctor's degree, and post-doctoral degree in uranium mining and metallurgy in China has been built for the nuclear industry. In this process, even though the development of the nuclear industry has been at a low ebb several times, we still adhere to the original intention of serving the country by cultivating more than 1700 undergraduate and graduate students in uranium mining and metallurgy for the nuclear industry, who have made important contributions to ensuring the "food" security of the nuclear industry. In particular, in the process of talent training, we focus on integrating the new progress and trend of the world's uranium mining and metallurgy into the curriculum teaching in a timely manner, creating a dynamic teaching method, so that students can always aim at the forefront of the world's uranium mining and metallurgy technology, constantly consolidate the professional foundation, and improve innovation ability. At the same time, my colleagues and I have completed 2 key projects of national defense scientific research, 2 key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, and 7 general projects; Breakthrough has been made in the core technologies of uranium mining and smelting, such as "pulse microwave forced dissociation-stirring leaching technology of hard rock uranium ore", "high efficiency spray system of uranium ore heap leaching", "high flux ion exchange device", "full slurry circulation granulation precipitation to produce heavy uranate"; It has developed key technologies for uranium pollution control, such as "bioremediation technology for radioactive contaminated sites" and "in-situ microbial reduction/mineralization remediation technology for acidic uranium contaminated groundwater"; More than 40 national invention patents have been granted; He has won more than 10 National Defense Science and Technology Awards, Hunan National Defense Technology Invention Awards and Hunan Provincial Science and Technology Progress Awards; Published more than 160 high-level academic papers; Published 5 monographs and textbooks. These research achievements have provided new principles, new methods and new technologies for uranium production. At the same time, they have also spawned a scientific and technological innovation model of "engineering oriented - problem posing - exploration and research", which has played a good role in fostering students' ability to catch up with innovation. These achievements can not be achieved without the broad stage provided by the vigorous development of the nuclear industry of the motherland and the selfless dedication of colleagues. I deeply feel that only by integrating the pursuit of personal ideals into the major needs of the country can we achieve something. The key to ensure the "food" security of the nuclear industry and the sustainable development of the uranium mining and smelting industry is talent. I will deeply study and implement the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, and stick to the principle of establishing morality and cultivating people
