Recently, the General Administration of Sport of the People's Republic of China, the Office of the Central Organization Committee, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and other four departments jointly issued the "Opinions on the Implementation of Setting up Coach Positions in Schools" (hereinafter referred to as the "Opinions"), proposing that schools, ordinary high schools, vocational colleges and universities in the compulsory education stage can set up full-time (part-time) coach positions according to the actual work. This measure, to a certain extent, has broken people's conventional perception that coaches are only available for professional sports teams or sports colleges at all levels. In fact, school coaches are not entirely new. They have already made preparations. In 2020, the General Administration of Sport and the Ministry of Education issued the Opinions on Deepening the Integration of Sports and Education and Promoting the Healthy Development of Adolescents, which stated that "establish the system of full-time and part-time coaches in primary and secondary schools". From 2021, Shaanxi, Zhejiang and other places will take the lead in combination with the actual situation and issue a notice to set up professional and technical posts for school sports coaches. This time, the four departments jointly issued the implementation opinions and encouraged the local governments to actively explore, which means that a key step has been taken to comprehensively deepen the integration of sports and education. What kind of physical education will professional coaches participate in after entering ordinary universities, primary and secondary schools? What changes will it bring? The Opinion points out that school coaches are mainly responsible for the training of students' special sports skills, physical fitness and the selection of sports reserve talents, the organization of school sports events, the training and competition management of school sports teams, the protection and rehabilitation of sports injuries, and the construction and management of school sports associations and sports clubs. This is obviously different from the previous training mode of sports talents. On the one hand, the selection of reserve talents through professional training in schools is conducive to getting rid of the dilemma of sports talents who are out of school under the mode of separation of sports and education. Let professional sports gradually return to the normal educational environment, and let everyone lay a good foundation of knowledge in the crucial youth period, so as to eliminate the worries of students and parents, broaden the space for career development, and cultivate a high-quality and high-level team of athletes. In the future, they also have the opportunity to embark on a broader life path. On the other hand, professional people do professional things, which is conducive to solving the remaining problems of the transformation and employment of retired athletes. At present, it is not uncommon for athletes to be out of touch with the society after finishing their sports career for more than ten years. According to the requirements of the Opinions, the sports department is responsible for the training of coaches in the transition school for retired athletes, and the education department is responsible for the ideological and political, professional ethics and teaching training to improve the level of education and teaching ability. Athletes are familiar with sports special skills, physical training, competition rules, etc., and will further improve the level of professional physical education on campus by cooperating with the original physical education teachers to explore more scientific and comprehensive physical education methods. In a comprehensive way, the Opinions highlight flexibility in more than one aspect: taking into account the actual situation of different regions, not "one size fits all", and giving grass-roots autonomy; The improvement of students' physique and sports ability, and the cultivation of sports reserve talents can all be regarded as the effective performance of the evaluation of coaches' professional titles; Areas with conditions can provide services to schools by purchasing services and cooperating with relevant professional institutions and other social forces
