During the Spring Festival in 2023, in the hit film "Wandering Earth 2", the scene of the Chinese quantum computer MOSS working together with 10000 "planetary engines" around the world with powerful computing power was shocking. In fact, quantum computers are not science fiction, but exist in real life. The first quantum computer in China has been delivered in 2021. We should start with six young people with lofty ambitions. One classroom and one chair 20 years ago, in an idle classroom numbered "8013" of the University of Science and Technology of China, six young people who love quantum computing began to explore how to build China's quantum computer in reality. Having a quantum computer that can be used in practice means having a faster product development speed and greater synergy with exponential growth... At that time, the classroom was so simple that there was only one chair. Guo Guoping, a professor of the University of Science and Technology of China and the secretary-general of the quantum computing professional group of the Chinese Computer Society, was a member of the six-member group that year. He has been entangled with quantum for many years, and has witnessed the start and development of quantum technology in China. As early as 2009, Guo Guoping's team replicated the classical quantum Hall effect in domestic experiments, thus mastering the measurement technology of extremely low temperature and extremely weak signal of semiconductor nanodevices, laying an important technical foundation for the follow-up development of quantum chips and quantum computing. Since then, step by step, it has gradually laid the cornerstone of China's quantum computer. In Guo Guoping's view, quantum computing has developed from pure scientific research to a stage where scientific research and engineering technology are equally important. However, if only relying on university research teams and engineering technology is underdeveloped, it cannot adapt to the frontier development trend of quantum computing technology. Guo Guoping described entrepreneurship as "compelling". In 2015, Guo Guoping found a well-known chip company in China to discuss cooperation in the development of quantum computers. However, quantum computing is a frontier research with unpredictable prospects, and enterprises are unwilling to invest. The only way to do quantum computing engineering research is to "do it yourself". In 2017, Guo Guoping and his teacher, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Director of the Key Laboratory of Quantum Information of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Guo Guangcan, led the doctoral team of the Key Laboratory of Quantum Information of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, jointly founded the first quantum computing company in China, Benyuan Quantum, with the goal of developing an engineering quantum computer that can be used interactively by users, thus enabling China to have independent and controllable quantum computing capabilities. The development of quantum computer is a system engineering, involving physics, microelectronics, machinery, software and other disciplines, and everything has to start from scratch. "In the new circuit of quantum chips, we must not lag behind others." Dr. Jia Zhilong, a team member, said that in order to improve the quality rate of quantum chips, a machine like a scalpel is needed to accurately remove the tiny defects in the chips Improve little by little. One experiment will take 2 to 3 hours, and there will be 6 to 8 rounds a day. After thousands of tests and improvements, the team finally successfully developed the first quantum chip industrial production in China
