On February 11, local time, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) held a drill code-named "Tiger 2023" in the barracks of the 21st batch of Chinese multifunctional engineering units in the village of Sinia in southern Lebanon. Chinese peacekeepers successfully completed the emergency evacuation exercise for UNIFIL employees and their families. The exercise was conducted against the background of the outbreak of large-scale conflict in the mission area, the serious deterioration of the security situation, and the reception, protection and transfer of UNIFIL employees and their families by the Chinese peacekeeping force, with the aim of testing the security and guarantee capability of the Chinese peacekeeping force. The exercise lasted for three hours. The Chinese peacekeeping unit dispatched more than 100 officers and soldiers and 10 vehicles and equipment to successfully complete the exercise of eight subjects, including emergency evacuation, camp defense, and armed escort. At about 8:00 a.m., the command post of the Chinese peacekeeping force immediately sounded the air defense alarm after receiving the command from the UNIFIL headquarters, and turned to the first level of alert. The commander issued the operation order, and the formation began in an orderly manner according to the division of labor. The security guard team asked for weapons and ammunition to quickly enter the post. The rescue team sent out armored infantry vehicles and armored ambulances to rescue personnel. The battalion gate inspection team checked the identity of employees and their families and accepted them into the camp. In addition, the unit also provided food and medical support for UNIFIL employees and their families. At 11:05, the last employee arrived at the camp safely. UNIFIL staff members gave lectures on safety common sense and emergency avoidance at the scene, and then led the employees and their families to visit the shelter and take a group photo. The exercise was officially concluded. The exercise was guided by the UNIFIL headquarters, organized and implemented by the Chinese peacekeeping force, and participated by more than 60 peacekeepers and more than 20 employees from 10 countries, including Italy, Ireland and Poland. "During the whole exercise, the Chinese peacekeeping force responded quickly and handled properly, reflecting its professional quality and good training level, and the exercise was very successful!" After the exercise, the UNIFIL security training officer Hu Rio spoke highly of the Chinese peacekeepers. (Xinhua News Agency)
