Not long ago, at the ninth meeting of the UNESCO Memory of the World Asia-Pacific Regional Committee held in Anton, South Korea, the "Dossier of the Initial Establishment of Dasheng Yarn Mill (1896-1907)" nominated by China passed the review and was selected into the List of Memory of the World Asia-Pacific Region. Dasheng Cotton Mill, founded by Zhang Jian, an entrepreneur in the late Qing Dynasty in 1895, is a leading enterprise in the budding cotton textile industry in China and East Asia. The "Dossier of Dasheng Yarn Factory at the Initial Stage (1896-1907)" has a total of 205 volumes, and is now stored in the Archives of Nantong City, Jiangsu Province. These archives were formed from 1896 to 1907, including manuscripts, account books, maps, etc., which are the historical records of Dasheng Cotton Mill in its early production, operation and management activities. "This file is a reliable document to record the management and operation of China's early joint-stock enterprises," said Chen Haibing, curator of Nantong Archives. It records not only the era background of China's social transformation and development at that time, but also the exploration and struggle of the Chinese nation. Chen Haibing said that the account books of Dasheng Yarn Factory kept in the archives are of every detail, reflecting the comprehensiveness and delicacy of China's traditional accounting methods; Daily, weekly and monthly verification of the round stamp marks, reflecting the rigorous and orderly work process; The cursive code in the account book shows the traditional accounting method in China. The documents retained by Zhang Jian are integrated with pavilion style, running script and regular script. The design drawings of factory buildings and stocks reflect the style of industrial aesthetics. It is reported that the survival of Dasheng archives is inseparable from Zhang Jian's strong awareness of archives. At the beginning of the preparation for the construction of Dasheng Cotton Mill, he identified the archives management department and the person in charge of the enterprise. At present, there are nearly 10000 volumes of Dasheng archives in the Nantong Archives, of which the most valuable part is "the archives of the initial stage of the establishment of Dasheng Textile Mill (1896-1907)". "The initial archives were formed in Dasheng Shanghai Institute." Zhu Jiang, the research librarian of Nantong Archives, said that Dasheng Shanghai Institute is the general name of Dasheng Cotton Mill's offices in Shanghai, which is responsible for the financing of Dasheng Cotton Mill and the purchase of various machines and materials needed by Dasheng Cotton Mill. The files formed in this process have been carefully kept by employees. After the cancellation of Dasheng Shanghai Stock Exchange, these files were transported back to Nantong and then transferred to Nantong Archives. After several generations of relay protection, the university archives have been digitized and become an important basis for studying the modern history of Nantong and even the modern history of China. The World Memory List is an international program aimed at raising people's awareness of the importance of precious literature heritage, so as to carry out effective rescue, protection and utilization of it. UNESCO launched this program in 1992. At present, China has selected 14 archives and literature heritages such as Huangdi Neijing and Compendium of Materia Medica. Zhu Jiang said that the application for the "Dossier of the Initial Establishment of Dasheng Yarn Mill (1896-1907)" was officially launched in April last year. After the review and approval of the National Archives Bureau, the application text was submitted to the Asia-Pacific Regional Committee of the World Memory Project. "The most unique value of the 'archives of the initial stage of the founding of Dasheng Cotton Mill (1896-1907)' is that it records Zhang Jian's thinking about the entrepreneurial spirit of putting equal emphasis on practical innovation and social responsibility
