Deng Boqing said that in the early morning of February 6, a strong earthquake occurred in Türkiye, causing heavy casualties and property losses in Türkiye and Syria. The Chinese government launched the emergency humanitarian assistance mechanism as soon as possible and decided to provide emergency assistance to Türkiye and Syria respectively. He said that China would provide emergency assistance worth 40 million yuan to Türkiye, including sending heavy urban rescue teams and medical teams to provide relief materials urgently needed by Turkey; We will provide emergency humanitarian assistance worth 30 million yuan to Syria, including US $2 million in cash assistance and urgently needed relief supplies, and accelerate the implementation of the ongoing food aid projects, of which 220 tons of wheat are on the way to Syria, and the remaining 3000 tons of rice and wheat will be shipped in two batches in the near future. Deng Boqing said that the National Cooperation Agency will work closely with the relevant departments of Turkey and Syria to ensure that the above assistance is implemented as soon as possible and help the victims. China will continue to provide assistance to Türkiye and Syria within its capacity according to the disaster situation and actual needs.
