"Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Greater Bay Area Combined Port" activates the "one game" of water transport in the Pearl River Delta

Recently, at the Beijiao Port Terminal in Shunde, Foshan, Guangdong Province, the electric ovens, dishwashers and other goods declared by Foshan Meidi Customs Declaration Co., Ltd. were shipped to the barge Chengxiang 398. After the customs clearance formalities were completed, they were transported to the Shekou Port in Shenzhen by inland river barge, and directly boarded the cargo ship and shipped to India, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Thailand and other countries and regions. The seamless connection of the export of these household appliances is benefited from the project of "Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Greater Bay Area Combined Port". It is reported that due to the restrictions of the water depth of the Pearl River Delta waterway and the high limit of bridges, large international cargo ships cannot directly enter the Pearl River waterway. The goods must be transported to Shenzhen Port by barge. Enterprises need to go to the customs of the two places to handle customs transfer procedures, and the logistics and time costs will rise accordingly. In recent years, the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Transport and Shenzhen Customs and other departments have jointly innovatively implemented the "Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Greater Bay Area Combined Port" project of "Shenzhen Hub Port+Branch Ports along the Pearl River", which has expanded the hinterland of Shenzhen Port to the ports along the Pearl River Delta, and simplified the traditional "customs transfer mode" into "one declaration, one inspection and one release". In 2020, the government departments and port enterprises in Shenzhen and Shunde actively coordinated and communicated with each other to pilot the implementation of "Shenzhen Shekou - Shunde New Port Combined Port", and the "two customs declarations" became "one customs declaration", realizing the "integration of two ports across customs areas" for the first time. In the past three years, the coverage of combined ports has been expanding, and a combined port system in the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao has been established, with Shenzhen port as the hub port and inland river port as the feeding port. According to the data of Shenzhen Transportation Bureau, up to now, Shenzhen has opened 26 combined ports with 9 cities, including Foshan, Zhongshan and Zhuhai. In 2022, Shenzhen Port completed 210000 TEUs of operations through the combined port mode, an increase of 86.22% year on year. (Xinhua News Agency)
