The medical treatment team of the joint prevention and control mechanism of the State Council recently issued the Notice on Further Strengthening the Collaborative Treatment of novel coronavirus Infection by Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine in General Hospitals and Specialized Hospitals, proposing to further implement the "Four Haves" integrated medical model of traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine with "mechanisms, teams, measures and effectiveness", and improve the TCM service capacity of general hospitals and specialized hospitals. The treatment of integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine can effectively block or slow down the development from severe to critical, promote the transformation from severe to mild, and reduce the mortality rate. In the three years since the outbreak of the epidemic, China has continuously strengthened the mechanism of integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine in the treatment of severe diseases, and established and improved the "four haves" integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine medical model. According to the notice, general hospitals and specialized hospitals above the second level should establish and improve the cooperative working mechanism of traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine for medical treatment of novel coronavirus infection. Traditional Chinese medicine doctors and western medicine doctors should jointly establish a hospital level expert group to jointly carry out joint ward rounds, multidisciplinary consultations, case discussions, etc., and jointly study and determine the treatment measures of integrated traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine for severe and critical patients. In the medical treatment of severe and critically ill patients, we should actively and reasonably use Chinese patent medicines (including traditional Chinese medicine injections), Chinese herbal decoction pieces and traditional Chinese medicine technologies in accordance with the Diagnosis and Treatment Plan for novel coronavirus Infection (Tenth Edition for Trial Implementation) and the Diagnosis and Treatment Plan for novel coronavirus Infection (Fourth Edition for Trial Implementation). At the same time, all general hospitals and specialized hospitals should strengthen the procurement and storage of Chinese patent medicines and Chinese herbal pieces related to COVID-19 infection, especially the varieties of Chinese herbal medicines (including Chinese herbal injections) for medical treatment of severe and critical patients, and focus on the reserve and ensure supply. Improving the service capacity of traditional Chinese medicine in general hospitals and specialized hospitals can better play the role of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of severe and critical patients. To this end, the notice requires the competent departments of health and traditional Chinese medicine in all provinces (districts and cities) to further strengthen the staffing of traditional Chinese medicine in general hospitals and specialized hospitals, strengthen the construction of clinical departments of traditional Chinese medicine, improve policy measures and systems such as performance assessment, and improve the technical level of traditional Chinese medicine of medical personnel participating in the treatment work through training.
