2023-01-31
Recently, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced the second batch of national cultural and ecological protection zones, among which the Hakka Culture (Meizhou) Ecological Protection Zone was listed. It has also become the first national cultural and ecological protection zone in Guangdong. Meizhou will take this opportunity to boost the high-quality development of Guangdong with high-quality cultural supply and help Guangdong build a stronger cultural province with a higher level. The reserve was approved by the former Ministry of Culture in May 2010, and the overall plan was approved for implementation in May 2017. The reserve covers 8 counties (cities and districts) in Meizhou, covering an area of 15800 square kilometers. Over the years, the Meizhou Municipal Party Committee and the Meizhou Municipal Government have attached great importance to the cultural and ecological protection work, adhering to the construction concept of "protection priority, overall protection, see people see things see life", and promoting the creative transformation and innovative development of Hakka culture around the construction goal of "rich heritage, strong atmosphere, distinctive characteristics, and people benefit". In the process of establishment, Meizhou gave full play to the advantages of intangible cultural heritage resources, promoted cultural creativity, cultural activities, and performing arts to enter the campus, scenic spots, and progress areas, and meticulously created the "Hakka Cultural Public Welfare Lecture Hall", "Friday has a play, and meet Saturday" and other cultural signs benefiting the people. With Hakka intangible cultural heritage as the theme, Meizhou created a number of masterpieces with Lingnan style, Hakka style and Meizhou characteristics, such as "Spring Rush" and "Lin Fengmian", to help build the Cultural Bay Area. At the same time, it has also set up an intangible cultural heritage poverty alleviation and employment workshop to vigorously promote the "Guangdong cuisine (Hakka cuisine) master" project, drive poor households out of poverty, and fully promote rural revitalization. The successful establishment of the national cultural and ecological reserve marks that the construction of the reserve has entered a new stage. In the future, Meizhou will continue to deepen the overall protection of the Hakka cultural and ecological protection zone, vigorously promote the living inheritance of Hakka culture, carefully build Hakka non-heritage cultural and creative brands, and strive to build a national Hakka cultural and ecological protection demonstration zone.
