The quantity of natural gas transported from Russia to Europe through Ukraine continues to decline
2023-01-31
The quantity of natural gas delivered by Russia's Gazprom to Europe in January continued to decline, falling to 24.2 million cubic meters on the 30th. According to RIA Novosti, since late May last year, the daily gas transmission from Russia to Europe through Ukraine through the Suja metering station in Kursk State has basically remained at 40 million to 43 million cubic meters. Since January 4 this year, the daily gas transmission has dropped to less than 38 million cubic meters, 32.6 million cubic meters on the 18th, 25.1 million cubic meters on the 19th and 24.4 million cubic meters on the 20th. Ukraine stopped accepting the transmission of Russian natural gas to Europe through the Sohranivka metering station since May last year, because it is under the control of the Russian military, so the Suja metering station has become the only import of Russian natural gas to Europe through Ukraine. Gazprom said that the application for resuming the operation of Sohranivka metering station was rejected by Uzbekistan, and it was technically impossible to transfer all gas transmission to Suja metering station. Some Russian analysts believe that the reduction in gas transmission is related to the warmer weather in Europe since January this year and the reduction in consumer demand for energy.
