According to the latest development strategy issued by the Cambodian government, the country will vigorously develop the automobile and electronic industries. The Cambodian official said on January 30 that two important documents, namely the Road Map for Developing and Attracting Investment in the Automobile Industry and the Road Map for Developing and Attracting Investment in the Electronic Industry, had been released. In the above-mentioned two documents, the Cambodian government has formulated short, medium and long-term strategies and objectives, starting from simple and labor-intensive parts assembly, and gradually shifting to more complex and higher-value-added assembly and design, in order to develop the country into a regional automobile and electronic production center. The Cambodian government expects that in the next five years, the automobile and electronic industry will create 2.1 billion US dollars of export foreign exchange and about 26000 new employment opportunities for Cambodia. In order to realize the vision, the Cambodian government will implement a comprehensive cross-sectoral action plan to improve the investment and business environment and improve the cost competitiveness in relevant fields.
