2023-01-19
2023 is the year of Guimao Rabbit. The Shanghai Museum selected five cultural relics in its collection, and borrowed two cultural relics from the Shanxi Museum and Quzhou Museum to hold the "Jade Rabbit Fairy - Shanghai Museum Spring Festival Exhibition of the Year of the Rabbit", which was officially opened to the public on the 18th. The rabbit is nimble and lovely, gentle in temperament, and has a beautiful meaning of endless reproduction, longevity and well-being. It has been loved by the Chinese people since ancient times. There are seven exhibits in this exhibition. Six cultural relics are displayed in the lobby on the first floor, including the rabbit statue of the Western Zhou Dynasty, the double rabbit car balance decoration, the white glazed rabbit of the Tang Dynasty, the sapphire rabbit paperweight of the Southern Song Dynasty, the crystal rabbit of the Yuan Dynasty and the jade rabbit support god of the Qing Dynasty; On the third floor, the painting gallery of the past dynasties displays the scroll of "The Painting of Ladies and Three Rabbits" by Yu Zhiding, a painter of the Qing Dynasty. Among them, the rabbit statue of the Western Zhou Dynasty was unearthed in 1992 at the M8 Tomb of the Marquis of Jin, Beizhao Village, Quwo County, and is now in the Shanxi Museum. The shape of the instrument with rabbit as its respect is rare in bronze. In the M8 tomb group of the Marquis of Jin Xian and the Marquis of Jin Mu and the Marquis of Jin Mu M64 tomb group of the Marquis of Jin Xian and the Marquis of Jin Mu, there are several bronze rabbit statues buried as sacrificial vessels, and they are different in size and shape, which is a wonder. Leaf-like residues were found inside such utensils, which may be used to make wine or filter wine residue, indicating that the rabbit statue should be an ancient wine vessel. The blue jade rabbit paperweight of the Southern Song Dynasty was unearthed in 1974 in the joint burial tomb of the Shishengzu and his successor, Yang, in Xianchun of the Southern Song Dynasty, and is now in Quzhou Museum. The rabbit-shaped paperweight is carved from Hotan sapphire in a round shape. It is in a crouching shape. The ears are soft on the back. The abdomen and legs are carved with short and thin lines, which look like the soft fur of a rabbit. 38 precious cultural relics, such as gold and silver, jade, porcelain and bronze, were unearthed from the joint burial tomb of Shi Shengzu and his wife, reflecting the superb craftsmanship and aesthetic orientation of the Southern Song Dynasty. The crystal rabbit of the Yuan Dynasty was unearthed in the Underground Palace of Yuanying Tower, Songjiang District, Shanghai in 1994. The crystal rabbit as a whole looks like looking for food, simple and honest, charmingly naive, and has the legacy of the Tang and Song dynasties. The rabbit has a gentle temperament and has always been regarded as a auspicious animal. It is a symbol of holiness, alertness, kindness and vitality. It is known as "the jade rabbit worships blessings". Chu Xiaobo, curator of the Shanghai Museum, said that the Shanghai Museum tried to show people's long-term observation and love of rabbits from the Western Zhou Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty and from the south to the north through these seven rabbit image cultural relics. I hope that these vivid "rabbit elves" can bring the excitement of the New Year to the audience. (Outlook New Era)
