Cloisonne technology shines on the world stage
2023-01-18
A few days ago, on the 128 large screen of Tower 1560 Broadway, Times Square, New York, the United States, the giant poster of "China Red" was made a magnificent appearance, and the cloisonne work "The Honor of Peace" was sparkling. After the stunning debut of Cloisonne's "Great Power Trilogy" series of works by General Zun of the 2018 Cloisonne's "Great Power" and Zhang Tonglu, the Chinese arts and crafts master, in New York in 2021, the "National Treasure of Beijing" Cloisonne once again shines in the world. As the core driver behind it, Beijing Enamel Factory once again demonstrated the beauty of traditional Chinese handicrafts and the extraordinary charm of traditional Chinese culture to the world, which has accumulated energy for Chinese culture to go global and Chinese cultural products to enter the global market. In response, Yi Fucheng, the former chairman of Beijing Enamel Factory Co., Ltd. and the executive director of China Arts and Crafts Association, said that the re-emergence of cloisonne production technology, a national intangible cultural heritage, on the international stage is not only the embodiment of the continuous improvement of China's cultural soft power, but also the further protection, inheritance and promotion of cloisonne production technology. Song Weizu, deputy director of the Central Cultural Committee of the NLD and founder of the Beijing Design Institute, also believed that China's representative intangible cultural heritage opened up a global market-oriented dissemination, which is a huge push for China's traditional culture to enter the world market, and also a concentrated display of China's cultural self-confidence, providing an important cultural carrier for China to move towards the world. For more than 600 years, it has been ingeniously inherited that "the vase is as bright as a flower. It can only be planted by skillful hands. It can't stay in spring without the blooming of the bletilla flower. It can't be difficult to come without the gossip butterfly. It can't stay in spring without suffering from water immersion and stone grinding." Cloisonne has the warmth of jade, the luster of jewelry, the fineness of porcelain, and the brilliance of gold and silver. With its distinctive national style and profound cultural connotation, it is called "the quintessence of the national treasure". The cloisonne production technology has a history of more than 600 years, and the production process is extremely complex and difficult. It not only uses bronze technology, but also absorbs porcelain technology, and also introduces a large number of traditional painting and carving techniques. A finished product has to go through more than 100 processes, including hundreds of polishing, one sintering and gilding. This time, "The Honor of Peace", which has attracted the attention of the world, is an artistic peak in contemporary cloisonne works. It is a tribute to the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China by Qian Meihua, a master of Chinese arts and crafts and the first chief craftsman of the Beijing Enamel Factory, and the closing work of his 60-year career in art. It took more than one year from conception to production, and achieved a historic breakthrough in the design of works. "The pattern of the work is exquisitely arranged, and more than 100 kinds of glazes are gradually moistened, requiring 4 times of blue lighting and 4 times of blue burning. The process difficulty and production cost are unprecedented," Yi Fucheng said. While highlighting the stable and atmospheric style of the cloisonne craft, the work also uses a large number of filigree and copper carving techniques characterized by delicacy and compactness. The whole work is inlaid with up to 266 lapis lazuli, metamorphic stone, agate and turquoise. From the lifelike phoenix at the top of the work, the parrot standing proudly on both sides of the cap, the dove of peace accessories at the neck of the work, to the filigree peacock at the bottom of the bottle, the exquisite beauty of the combination of cloisonne with filigree and copper carving technology is displayed to the viewers. Zhong Liansheng, the master of Chinese arts and crafts, Qian Meihua's disciple, also participated in the creation of "The Honour of Peace". Growing up in New China
