Xu Beihong's collection of Shanghai style paintings is diverse, with rich themes and numerous famous artists. On January 17, the "Maritime Tours - Xu Beihong's Collection of Shanghai Painting Exhibition" was opened to the audience on the fourth floor of the Xu Beihong Memorial Hall in Beijing. This exhibition displays more than 40 works of Shanghai style collected by nearly 20 famous maritime masters, and many fine paintings are on display for the first time. At the beginning of the exhibition, the Dianshizhai Pictorial collected by Xu Beihong was specially added, highlighting Xu Beihong's love, protection and inheritance of art treasures. The second unit, "Flowers and Birds", brings together Ren Xun's exquisite and elegant boneless flowers, the sparse and cold wild chrysanthemum and pine branches in the empty valley, and the ancient and beautiful flower and bird fan in Zhucheng, showing the artistic characteristics of Shanghai painters, such as flexible and free pen, bright and clean colors, and fresh and elegant style. The third unit, "Animals", selected the animal-themed paintings of many late Shanghai painters such as Zhang Yuguang, Wang Yachen, Xie Zhiliu, and created a wonderful and lively artistic atmosphere. In this exhibition, you can see the prosperous scene of Shanghai as the birthplace of emerging art, the development process of Chinese painting from traditional to modern, and the systematic and comprehensive nature of Xu Beihong's art collection. Xu Beihong's collection is never for himself. Building a museum is his biggest internal driving force for art collection. Now, it is our inheritance and dissemination of Xu Beihong's artistic spirit in today's world to explore, excavate and comb Xu Beihong's collection treasures, gradually open the vast collection world of the master Xu Beihong, and give full play to the role of art in social aesthetic education.
