Wang Yi Holds a Telephone Talk with French President's Foreign Affairs Adviser Bona

On January 16, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and director of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Working Committee of the Communist Party of China, had a telephone conversation with Bona, the foreign affairs adviser to the French President. Wang Yi said that the current world situation is full of turbulence and change, and the healthy and stable development of China-France relations is of special significance. As both permanent members of the UN Security Council and an independent power, China and France should strengthen strategic communication and play an important role in dealing with global chaos and changes. China is willing to close high-level exchanges with France, deepen strategic mutual trust and open up new prospects for the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and France. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and the EU. China is willing to work with France and other EU member states to adhere to mutual respect, dialogue and cooperation, mutual benefit and win-win results, and inject new impetus into the China-EU comprehensive strategic partnership. Boehner said that France attaches great importance to Franco-China relations and is willing to strengthen high-level exchanges with China, deepen cooperation in innovation, science and technology and other fields, and jointly forge a blueprint for future development. France opposes the Cold War mentality and group politics, and is willing to play a positive role in expanding the EU-China dialogue, safeguarding multilateralism, promoting global economic recovery, and cooperating in combating climate change. The French side understands and supports the anti-epidemic measures taken by China, and believes that China will defeat this round of epidemic.
