Webb telescope confirmed the discovery of the first exoplanet

According to the website of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) of the United States, American scientists have confirmed for the first time an exoplanet with the help of the Webb Space Telescope. This small rock planet, named LHS475b, is almost the same diameter as the Earth, about 41 light-years away from the Earth, and is located in the constellation Antarctica. Researchers recently presented the relevant results at a meeting of the American Astronomical Society. After carefully reviewing the target of NASA's extragalactic exploration satellite, researchers confirmed the existence of this planet using Webb's near-infrared spectrometer. Researchers said that this exoplanet could not have a thick methane-dominated atmosphere like Saturn's moon Titan. However, they still do not exclude pure carbon dioxide atmosphere, because 100% carbon dioxide atmosphere is difficult to detect, and more accurate measurements are needed to distinguish pure carbon dioxide atmosphere from non-atmosphere. Researchers plan to observe the exoplanet again this summer in order to obtain more spectral data. Webb's data shows that the temperature of this planet is several hundred degrees higher than that of the earth. If clouds are detected, it indicates that this planet may be more like Venus, which has an atmosphere full of carbon dioxide. Researchers also confirmed that LHS475b has a revolution period of 2 Earth days. Although the distance between this planet and its main star (a red dwarf) is less than the distance between any planet in the solar system and the sun, the temperature of this red dwarf is less than half of the sun's temperature, so researchers predict that it may have an atmosphere.
