How did the Qin army, which swept up the six countries and unified the whole country, arrange its troops? How about the production process of Qin Tomb pottery figurines? The answers to these eternal mysteries have begun to surface in history. The Shaanxi Provincial Bureau of Cultural Relics released the important archaeological discoveries of Shaanxi in 2022 on the 12th. Among them, the archaeological excavation of the Qin Shihuang Emperor's Mausoleum has yielded new results. Archaeologists have carried out the third archaeological excavation for more than ten years in the large burial pit, Pit 1, outside the cemetery. More than 220 pottery figurines have been discovered, and the arrangement rules of the military array have been preliminarily clarified, and the production process of the Qin Tomb pottery figurines has also been clarified. The third archaeological excavation of Pit 1 began in 2009, covering an area of about 430 square meters. At present, more than 220 terra-cotta figurines, 16 terra-cotta horses, 4 chariots, chariots and horses, weapons, production tools, etc. have been cleared. According to Shen Maosheng, a researcher at the Imperial Mausoleum Museum of the First Emperor of Qin Dynasty, the architectural structure of Pit 1 is of frame type, and its technology is relatively primitive compared with the coffin type burial pit. It can be inferred that it was built earlier in the cemetery. At the same time, many breakthroughs have been made in this archaeological excavation: the types and distribution of weapons have been clarified, the first shield in the pit has been cleared, the functions of the special figurines have been confirmed, and the arrangement rules of the army formation have been preliminarily clarified. Shen Maosheng said that the archaeological excavation also clarified the production process of the terracotta figurines: after the large terracotta figurines are molded, they will be carved in detail, and then their arms will be bonded. The burial pits of the Terra Cotta Warriors of the Qin Dynasty are a group of large burial pits outside the Mausoleum of the First Emperor of the Qin Dynasty. The No.1 pit has the largest area, and its plane is rectangular, with a total area of 14260 square meters. According to the arrangement density, about 6000 pottery figurines and horses can be unearthed after all excavation. (Xinhua News Agency)
