Ottawa announced that this would be the first set of "National Advanced Surface to Air Missile System" (NASAMS) provided by Canada to Ukraine. This news was announced after Trudeau and Biden met in Mexico. According to the report, this air defense system will be mainly used to help Ukraine resist large-scale Russian air strikes.
