The "Zhongshu Living Room" built with Qian Zhongshu's former residence in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province was officially opened to the public on the 4th. Qian Zhongshu's Former Residence is a cultural relics protection unit in Jiangsu Province, located in Xinjie Lane, Liangxi District, Wuxi City. Mr. Qian Zhongshu spent his youth here. The former residence has four entrances. The first two entrances were built in 1923 by Qian Futong, Qian Zhongshu's grandfather, and the last two entrances were built in 1924 by Qian Jihou, his uncle. The first two have been open to the outside world all year round, while the last two have not been fully utilized due to various reasons. From 2019 to 2021, Wuxi invested more than 400 million yuan to repair 153 former residences and historical sites of celebrities, thus completing a new round of repair of Qian Zhongshu's former residence. In 2022, Wuxi will launch the "Hundred Houses and Hundred Courtyards" activation and utilization project, which will take three years to complete the activation and utilization of 100 former residence sites. The "Zhongshu Living Room" project, which was built by using Qian Zhongshu's former residence, was included in one of the first activation and utilization projects. Rong Junyan, director of Wuxi Donglin Academy and Celebrity Former Residence Management Center, said that the "Zhongshu Living Room" project was launched in September 2022. The whole living room was divided into five theme spaces, including exhibition and Chen culture area, reading experience area, characteristic cultural and creative area, outdoor salon area, and cultural and leisure area, which showed Mr. Qian Zhongshu's spiritual world and the deeds of the Qian family. The "Zhongshu Living Room" has launched a series of creative projects, where people can listen to Qian Zhongshu's classical literary works, borrow Qian's family works for free, publish reading speeches, and enjoy immersive holographic projection clips with the theme of "Fortress Besieged". Rong Junyan said that the "Zhongshu Living Room" will also carry out a series of activities with the theme of "Zhongshu, Zhongqing, Zhongyi, Zhongxin", so that citizens and tourists can more deeply feel Qian Zhongshu's spiritual world and the thought-provoking details of his former residence.
