On the afternoon of January 5, Premier Li Keqiang held a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Shabaz of Pakistan at Ziguangge, Zhongnanhai at request. The two prime ministers first exchanged New Year greetings. Li Keqiang expressed that the China Pakistan friendship has been tested by the changes in the international situation and has become stronger over time. China has always placed China Pakistan relations in the diplomatic priority of the surrounding countries, and will, as always, support Pakistan in safeguarding its national independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and legitimate rights and interests, and support Pakistan in maintaining domestic unity and stability and achieving national development and revitalization. Mr. Premier paid a successful visit to China not long ago, which strongly promoted the development of bilateral relations. China is willing to close high-level exchanges with Pakistan, promote practical cooperation in key areas, and promote greater development of China Pakistan relations. Li Keqiang pointed out that the current world economic situation is complex and characterized by high inflation, low growth, tight currency and high debt. All countries should jointly promote mutual opening up, strengthen coordination of macroeconomic and financial policies, and strive to promote world economic recovery and growth. China always supports Pakistan in developing its economy and improving people's livelihood, and is willing to work with Pakistan to safeguard regional peace, stability and development. It is hoped that Pakistan will continue to make every effort to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel and institutions in Pakistan. Shabaz thanked the Chinese side for providing great support and assistance to Pakistan in fighting against the flood, and highly appreciated that the Chinese side always stood with Pakistan when Pakistan encountered difficulties, which fully reflected the "iron" friendship between Pakistan and China, which is higher than mountains and deeper than sea.
