On January 5, 2023, the first instance of Xiamen Intermediate People's Court in Fujian Province opened a public hearing to hear the bribery case of Xu Ming, a former member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the State Food Administration. The Xiamen Municipal People's Procuratorate sent personnel to support the public prosecution, and the defendant Xu Ming and his defenders attended the court proceedings. The People's Procuratorate of Xiamen indicted and accused: From 1995 to 2021, the defendant Xu Mingliyong served as the director of the Foreign Investment Division, the director of the Foreign Enterprise Division, the deputy director of the Foreign Economic Coordination Division, the deputy director of the Department of Foreign Economic Coordination of the former State Economic and Trade Commission, the deputy director of the Department of Market System Construction of the Ministry of Commerce, the director of the General Department, the deputy secretary-general of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee, the standing committee member and secretary-general of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee, the former member of the Party Leadership Group of the State Food Administration The deputy director general and other positions, as well as the convenient conditions for the formation of his authority and position, provided assistance to relevant units and individuals in project contracting, business approval, case handling and personnel adjustment, and illegally received property amounting to more than 51.2 million yuan; In June 2021, after leaving his post, Xu Ming took advantage of the power and position formed by his former position as a member of the Standing Committee of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee and the Secretary General, and promised to help others in case handling through the post conduct of other national staff, illegally receiving 1.2 million yuan. During the court trial, the public prosecution organ presented relevant evidence, the defendant Xu Ming and his defender conducted cross examination, the prosecution and defense both fully expressed their opinions under the auspices of the court, Xu Ming made the final statement, and pleaded guilty in court. At last, the court adjourned the hearing and gave a verdict.
