According to the US "Military" website on December 28, the US military confirmed that federal agents are assisting the Navy in investigating the fire of a US missile destroyer before Christmas. The US Navy said that in the early morning of December 23, the US "Carney" missile destroyer moored at the Mayport Naval Base caught fire, and six sailors who inhaled smoke were subsequently sent to nearby hospitals for further evaluation. After the fire, agents from the U.S. Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Administration (ATF) boarded the destroyer to assist the military in its investigation. The US media said that ATF has special agents responsible for investigating arson cases and can quickly deploy to potential crime scenes. A source said that the fire was a medium fire in one of the compartments of the destroyer. It is worth noting that this is the second publicly admitted ship fire in the Mayport base in several months. At the end of July, the electric circuit of the coastal combat ship Milwaukee caught fire while maintaining at the base. (Outlook New Times)
