Papers published in the past two years have been cited in large numbers in the last two months, and the papers that have been cited in the top 1 ‰ of the discipline are called hot papers. Papers of various disciplines that have been cited in the top 1% of the world from 2011 to 2021 are called highly cited papers. According to the Report, as of September 2022, the number of hot papers in China was 1808, accounting for 41.7% of the world total, an increase of 19.3% over the 2021 statistics, and the world ranking rose to No. 1. The number of hot papers in the United States is 1730, ranking second. The number of highly cited articles of China was 49900, accounting for 27.3% of the world share, 16.2% more than that in 2021. The world ranking remained at the second place, and its share of the world increased by nearly 3 percentage points. The number of highly cited papers in the United States is 78500, accounting for 42.9% of the world share, still ranking first. In 2021, there are 18 international top journals with more than 100,000 citations and more than 30 impact factors, and 32,100 papers will be published in 2021. Among them, China published 2045 academic papers and review articles, ranking the second in the world, the same as in 2020. The journals whose influence factors and total citations of each discipline rank in the top 10% of the discipline, and the number of academic papers and review articles published each year is more than 50, are selected as the world's representative scientific and technological journals of various disciplines, and the papers published on them belong to high-level international journals. In 2021, a total of 371 international scientific and technological journals will be selected as the world's representative scientific and technological journals of various disciplines, and 228,700 high-level international journal papers will be published. According to the statistical analysis results of the first author and the first unit, China has published 80500 high-level international journal papers, accounting for 35.2% of the world share, ranking first in the world. According to the number of international papers cited, China ranks first in the world in five fields of agricultural science, material science, chemistry, computer science and engineering technology among the 22 disciplines - an increase in agricultural science over the previous year. The number of citations of theses in 10 fields including biology and biochemistry, environment and ecology, geosciences, mathematics, microbiology, molecular biology and genetics, comprehensive sciences, pharmacy and toxicology, physics, botany and zoology ranked second in the world. According to the Report, among the international papers published by China in 2021, there will be 149200 international co authored papers, an increase of 4600 over 2020, or 3.3%.
