Recently, the COP15 (the 15th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity) "Biodiversity Protection Meets Her" gender initiative parallel activity, sponsored by the Publicity and Education Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and co organized by the Alxa SEE Ecological Association and the Beijing Environmental Protection Doll Public Welfare Development Center, was held in Montreal, Canada. Gender initiatives have always been an important part of the Convention on Biological Diversity. The preamble of the Convention mentions the importance of recognizing the role of women in biodiversity conservation. Yuan Mengqian, director of the Beijing Environmental Protection Doll Public Welfare Development Center, said in her speech that the promotion and education of biodiversity conservation around families and children can change the family life style more practically and effectively, thus driving families, schools and the whole society to actively promote and participate in biodiversity conservation. Beijing Environmental Protection Doll Public Welfare Development Center was established in 1999, its predecessor is the "Women's Environment Group" public welfare organization under the framework mechanism of the "China Canada Clean Production Cooperation Project" jointly implemented by the Chinese and Canadian governments. In 2014, with the support of the Beijing Women's Federation, the Center was registered as a non-governmental non-profit social organization, and gradually grew into one of the civil society organizations that earlier provided public welfare environmental education and publicity services for women and children in China. Yuan Mengqian said in her speech that in recent years, the Center has carried out many online and offline biodiversity conservation publicity and education activities with the theme of biodiversity conservation. Among them, the Center, together with the Publicity and Education Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and China Economic Publishing House, launched the science popularization plan of "Blue Star Messenger", collected and sorted out 25 first-line wildlife protection organizations in China, more than 40 first-line patrol officers and observers, precious work records and graphic manuscripts involving more than 200 species, and compiled a series of biodiversity science popularization books, It tells the Chinese story of biodiversity conservation where people and nature live in harmony.
