China's first deep-water scientific research wharf officially opened in Nansha, Guangzhou

On the 18th, a new multi-functional scientific research ship named "Marine Geology No.2" slowly docked at the scientific research dock of Guangzhou Marine Geological Survey, China Geological Survey, marking the first deep-water scientific research dock in China and the official opening of the largest special scientific research dock in China. The support capacity of China's deep-water exploration base was further improved. The wharf is located in the northeast corner of Longxue Island, Nansha District, Guangzhou, covering an area of about 300 mu, with a coastline of 1000 meters. There are five scientific research ship berths, with a total length of 700 meters and a supporting land area of about 12000 square meters. The wharf is connected with the main channel of Guangzhou Port through the branch channel, which has the functions of ship docking, navigation preparation and replenishment, command and dispatching, maintenance and maintenance, meets the global standards for water and electricity for scientific research ships to dock, and has the ability to prevent floods once in 200 years. It is an important supporting facility for China to carry out ocean scientific research cooperation and deep-sea scientific and technological innovation. The special deep-water scientific research wharf will be jointly constructed by Guangzhou Marine Geological Survey Bureau and Nansha District Government of Guangzhou City. The construction will start in October 2020, and the main body will pass the handover and acceptance in November 2022. (Liu Xinshe)
