Strengthen international cooperation and protect the earth's home

Biodiversity makes the earth full of vitality and is also the basis for human survival and development. China is one of the countries with the richest biodiversity in the world. As an important participant, contributor and leader in global biodiversity conservation, China has always been at the forefront of promoting global biodiversity governance, working hand in hand with the international community. "I really hope I can witness this with my own eyes." Looking at the photo of five Butler whales preying in Weizhou Island sea area sent by Chen Mo, associate researcher of Guangxi Academy of Sciences and head of marine mammal research and scientific education innovation team, Pachalabeng, a fishery research expert of Thailand Ocean and Coastal Resources Bureau, could not help sighing, "I miss the day of joint investigation in Weizhou Island with the Chinese team!" In 2017, Chen Mo and his team found a trace of the Bryan whale in Weizhou Island, Beibu Gulf, Guangxi, which aroused the interest of Bryan whale researchers, including Pachalabeng from Thailand. In April 2019, thanks to the China Thailand Maritime Cooperation Fund and at the invitation of the Third Institute of Oceanography, the Ministry of Natural Resources of China, Pachalabeng led his team to Weizhou Island to conduct a joint survey with the Chinese team. Chen Mo noted that the Thai team will use photos to assess the size and health of the Bryan whale - from the photos taken from the rear side, it can be seen whether the back of the Bryan whale is round or sharp. If it is round, it means that the whale is larger, which can also reflect the rich local food from one side. During the joint investigation, the research teams of China and Thailand came to an important conclusion that the whales in the Gulf of Thailand and Weizhou Island belong to two different populations, and there is no duplication between them. This conclusion was very exciting for researchers from both countries, and it also aroused the interest of Chen Mo and other Chinese researchers to go to Thailand to investigate the local brucella whales. In October 2019, at the invitation of Thailand, Chen Mo led the Chinese team to the Gulf of Thailand for a return visit and investigation. During the 10 day joint survey, researchers from the two countries had more in-depth exchanges on the survey methods and data analysis of the Bryan whale. "The data analysis method of the Chinese team is worth learning!" Pachalabene said that the table compiled by Chen Mo and his team clearly recorded the number, location and behavior of the Bryan whale, which can be summarized through a series of operations. Thailand is still very hot in October. Researchers often go aboard ships to observe, take photos and record under the scorching sun, and then return to the shore to rest and summarize after the sun sets. "Everyone's enthusiasm is very high. Almost every evening there will be a seminar!" Pachalaben was still in high spirits when recalling. From Weizhou Island to the Gulf of Thailand, the researchers of China and Thailand became friends with the Bryan whale and worked closely together on the way to jointly study and protect this rare marine organism. At the initiative of the research team, the Regulations on the Ecological Environment Protection of Weizhou Island in Beihai City was formally implemented, which clearly prohibited the dumping of garbage and other wastes into the sea, and stipulated that Weizhou Island, Xieyang Island and the sea area 6 kilometers away from their coastline were permanently prohibited from fishing. Thailand has also issued relevant regulations to protect the ecological environment of the Gulf of Thailand. With the deepening of research work, the number of individuals of this Bryan whale population identified in Weizhou Island sea area has
