2022-12-15
Russian Agriculture Minister Patrushev said on the 14th that Russia had achieved a record grain harvest in 2022, with a gross weight of more than 159 million tons, when he was asked about politics by the Russian Duma (lower house of parliament). According to Patrushev, Russia's harvest of beets, soybeans, rapeseed, potatoes, vegetables and fruits this year is also higher than that in 2021. He said that Russia has made major technological breakthroughs in the agricultural field in recent years, ensuring the steady increase of agricultural output. According to preliminary data, the sown area in Russia in winter is 17.7 million hectares, about 97% of the crops are growing well. In addition, Patrushev also pointed out that Russian agricultural products are currently sold to more than 150 countries overseas. It is estimated that by the end of this year, the export income of Russian agricultural products will increase by at least 10% compared with 2021. When Patrushev reported the agricultural production to Russian President Putin on November 21, he said that the Russian agro industrial complex was developing in an orderly manner, which was sufficient to ensure Russian food security. This year, Russia's agricultural exports exceeded 33 billion US dollars, maintaining its status as a net food exporter for the third consecutive year. The data shows that the export volume of Russian agricultural products in 2021 will be 37.1 billion US dollars, an increase of 21% over 2020. (Liu Xinshe)
