Online Chinese course "cloud top" spreading culture

"The frost wind is blowing and the moon is shining brightly. I stand side by side with a tall tree, but I don't lean against it." Recently, students in Class 3 and Class C of the Philippines Overseas Chinese College read Shen Yinmo's "Moonlight" across the screen to begin the new week's Chinese online course. Chen Jinxia, a Chinese teacher from Peiyuan Middle School in Quanzhou, Fujian Province, taught them. Influenced by the epidemic, overseas Chinese education faces many difficulties. Last year, the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office launched the pilot project of "online expatriate teachers". Through the Fujian Provincial Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, it contacted the Philippine Chinese Education Center and sent Chinese online teachers to some Chinese schools in the Philippines. This year, Quanzhou Peiyuan Middle School participated in this project and made active preparations. Three excellent teachers, Li Huifang, Chen Jinxia and Wu Kailu, were selected to undertake the teaching task. In combination with the characteristics of Filipino students and the particularity of online courses, they made full preparations. In July this year, three teachers officially started Chinese online teaching. After school at 12 o'clock at noon, we had lunch in a hurry and ran all the way to catch up with the Chinese online class at 1 o'clock in the afternoon, which became the daily life of teachers. "When I became a Chinese online teacher, I finally understood what it means to race against the clock." The original teaching work of the three teachers was not easy. Now, Chen Jinxia has three Chinese online classes every afternoon and is also the head teacher of the Filipino Chinese class. Although the Filipino Chinese textbooks are synchronized with China, the students' Chinese proficiency is uneven. For teachers, the teaching workload has doubled. The teachers also actively participated in the online activities of Philippine schools to guide Filipino students to participate in the competition. Even though they are so busy, every class, the teachers are playing a twelve point spirit to maintain the best teaching state. In the classroom, teachers pay attention to the students' classroom status through the camera, appropriately reduce the difficulty, slow down the speaking speed and rhythm, and remind them to take notes. "Did everyone understand?" Became the mantra of three teachers in class. Across the screen, Filipino students also felt their enthusiasm and actively participated in classroom interaction. At the end of each class, the teachers will immediately report the teaching situation to the Philippine school. After a period of exploration, teachers began to focus on the basics. When encountering ancient poems and essays, teachers analyzed them word by word. "Although it is hard, when the students are happy to communicate with me that they have mastered new knowledge and heard them seriously say sentences that are not very smooth, we will feel a strong sense of achievement and pride." Wu Kailu said. "Our school principal Cai Xiangyang always cares about the teaching progress. He not only went to the teaching site with school leaders for many times, but also organized all teachers in the school's language group to listen to the lessons and give suggestions." Wu Kailu said. Previously, Quanzhou Peiyuan Middle School established a deep friendship with the Philippine Overseas Chinese College. Last year, teachers and students of the two schools held a "cloud based" friendly class exchange meeting to share their own learning and life and deeply understand the cultures of the two countries. This year, the teaching work of the three teachers was not only recognized by the Philippine school, but also praised by the Filipino students. They said that the teachers were very patient, and the lessons were interesting and careful. During the teaching process, teachers also pay attention to guiding students to feel the beauty of Chinese traditional culture. Filipino parents are happy to see their children learn and inherit profound Chinese culture. Interestingly, teachers and Filipino parents
