The Japanese exploration satellite "Kuafu I" released scientific images for the first time
2022-11-25
The reporter learned from the Zijinshan Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences that China's comprehensive solar exploration satellite, "Kuafu I", recently acquired hard X-ray images of the sun and released them to the public. This is also the first scientific image released by Kuafu I after its launch. It is reported that this is the only solar hard X-ray image taken from a near earth perspective in the world, and its image quality has reached the international advanced level. Gan Weiqun, the chief scientist of "Kuafu I", introduced that the image released this time is an image of an M-level solar flare that erupted at 1:00 (Universal Time) on November 11, and was taken by the satellite loaded hard X-ray imager (HXI). Although it is still in the testing period, the imaging effect has been very excellent, from which we can identify the details of the explosion and the fine structure of the sun. The full name of "Kuafu I" satellite is Advanced Space based Solar Observatory (ASO-S), which is a special satellite for comprehensive solar exploration. It was successfully launched at Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center on October 9, 2022. The scientific objective of the satellite is "one magnetic field and two storms", that is, to simultaneously observe the solar magnetic field and two types of the most violent eruptions on the sun - flares and coronal mass ejections, and study their formation, evolution, interaction, correlation, etc., while providing support for space weather forecasting. As one of the three satellite payloads, the hard X-ray imager, led by the Zijinshan Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, undertakes the task of observing the non thermal radiation of solar flares in the "one magnetic two storms".
