I highly appreciate this. This year marks the 50th anniversary of China New Zealand diplomatic relations. Over the past 50 years, China New Zealand relations have maintained sound and stable development. Cooperation in various fields between the two countries has brought benefits to the two peoples and made positive contributions to regional peace, stability and prosperity. China regards New Zealand as an important partner and friend. Both sides should sum up historical experience, continue to carry forward the spirit of striving for the first, and push forward the China New Zealand comprehensive strategic partnership. As a comprehensive strategic partner, we should strengthen communication, enhance mutual trust, accommodate each other's core interests and major concerns, and ensure that China New Zealand relations are sustainable and not biased. We should deepen exchanges and cooperation in such fields as economy and trade, science and technology, and education, and implement the upgraded China Singapore Free Trade Agreement and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement. We should inherit and develop the "Louis Eli Spirit", support local governments, people to people and young people of the two countries to strengthen dialogue and exchanges, and enhance the friendship between the two peoples. Both China and New Zealand are advocates and beneficiaries of multilateralism and free trade. We should stick to the right direction of economic globalization, promote trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, and work together to address global challenges such as climate change. Peace is China's most persistent pursuit. China has not, does not and will not seek hegemony in history. The starting point of China's policy towards Pacific island countries has always been to seek peace, development and cooperation. China is willing to work closely with New Zealand to jointly promote peace, stability, development and prosperity in the Pacific island countries. The friendly exchanges between Singapore and China have a long history. Despite the impact of the COVID-19, bilateral relations have maintained a strong momentum of development. The two sides should take this year's 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties as an opportunity to earnestly summarize experience, strengthen high-level exchanges, and deepen bilateral cooperation in trade, education, climate change and other fields. China is an important force to promote the future development and prosperity of the world. New Zealand adheres to the one China policy, is committed to enhancing communication and understanding with China, and is willing to conduct in-depth exchanges on South Pacific affairs to contribute to promoting prosperity and stability in the Asia Pacific region. Ding Xuexiang, Wang Yi, He Lifeng and others attended the meeting. (Liu Xinshe)
