Over the past 100 years, Chinese children's films have gone through an extraordinary journey from short to long, from black and white to color, and from silent to vocal, witnessing and recording the growth of generations. According to the statistics of China Children's and Juvenile Film Association, the annual output of children's films in China accounts for about 10% of the annual output of domestic films. In the opinion of industry experts, compared with the huge population of children, the current production of children's films is not large, and there are still few high-quality children's films on the market. In addition, many children's films may not have the chance to be released once they are shot, or they may just be a "one-day tour in the cinema" when they are released. At the same time, due to low market returns, film makers are generally not enthusiastic about shooting children's films. How to make more excellent films for children? Recently, the Golden Rooster Film Forum of the 2022 China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival, jointly sponsored by the China Film Association and the Xiamen Municipal People's Government, and organized by the Film Art Center of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Children's Film Working Committee of the China Film Association, was held in Xiamen, Fujian Province. At the forum, the creators, producers and researchers of children's films together traced and summarized the artistic achievements and creative experience of domestic children's films in different historical periods, and explored the innovative development and revitalization of domestic children's films in the new era. Children's film creators should have a childlike innocence in their hearts. No matter how old a person is, there is always a film treasured in his memory, bearing the memory of childhood and the initial impression of the world. In the opinion of Huang Jun, the president of the China Children's and Juvenile Film Association, children's films provide a window for children to look at the magnificent and ever-changing life through the screen. Every bit, every flower, every herb, and every thing there will enter the children's heart and help them grow into a sane person. "Therefore, children's films must put the seeds of truth, kindness and beauty into the hearts of children, so that they can take root, blossom and bear fruit, which is the highest goal of children's film creation. To this end, children's film creation must start from the perspective of children, reflect their lives, and let children become the narrative subject of the whole story." At the just concluded 35th China Golden Rooster Award Ceremony, children's films performed well. "Goodbye Groundhog" won the best children's film award, and "The Bear Comes Back to Earth" won the best art film award. Among them, nearly 10 bear haunts have been released, becoming a business card of domestic children's films. In the opinion of Ding Liang, the chief director of "Bears Appear", all creation is an innovation of ideas. It is difficult to create good works without ideological innovation. The creation of children's films at present and in the future should respect children's minds and aesthetics. The creators should always have a childlike innocence in their hearts, so as to make the works more beautiful and attract children.
