2022-11-11
The second Asian Medical and Health Summit Forum, jointly organized by the Hong Kong SAR Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, opened in Hong Kong on the 10th. Experts and industry insiders from all over the world discussed topics such as opportunities and development of the medical and health industry online and offline. Li Jiachao, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR, said in his speech at the meeting that the Hong Kong SAR Government's flagship innovation project, "InnoHK Innovation Hong Kong R&D Platform", had gathered 28 research laboratories jointly operated by Hong Kong and international top scientific research institutions, including 16 focusing on the field of life and health. From 2024, the SAR government will use the Hong Kong Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park located in the Hetao area of Lok Ma Chau to attract well-known enterprises and talents to Hong Kong and focus on strategic industries such as life and health. Cao Xuetao, deputy director of the National Health Commission, said in a video speech that relying on the motherland is Hong Kong's unique advantage. The National Health Commission welcomes Hong Kong's medical and nursing communities, medical schools and other institutions to actively communicate with mainland counterparts, strengthen cooperation in medical science and technology innovation and application, clinical practice and other aspects, support Hong Kong's integration into the national health development overall situation, and promote the integrated development of health care in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. Susannah Jacob, Deputy Director General of the World Health Organization, said in her video address that the power of science, research and innovation is very important in addressing global health issues. She stressed that all sectors should unite to build a strong and more resilient health system. This two-day forum is one of the key activities of the first "International Medical and Health Week" coordinated by the Hong Kong Trade and Development Council. Another key activity held at the same time is the 13th "Hong Kong International Medical and Health Expo". The exhibition has attracted about 300 exhibitors. Many companies hope to explore business opportunities through the exhibition and enter the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area market. A Hong Kong exhibition company showed a new "mobile dry toilet" on the spot. It can automatically replace the toilet board cover and seal the excrement with plastic bags, which is more effective than the traditional toilet chair to reduce the workload of nursing staff. The person in charge of the company said that he looked forward to meeting more buyers in the exhibition and looking for more cooperation opportunities, hoping to expand his business to other cities in the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. The 15 day "International Medical and Health Week" was held on November 1. Through a series of meetings and exchange activities, it aims to promote innovation and investment exchanges in the Asian medical and health industry and capture new opportunities in the industry.
