On August 29, the letter page of our newspaper published "Aluminum ash is illegally stacked, which seriously pollutes the surrounding environment", reflecting the illegal stacking of aluminum ash in Qiao Village, Guanghua Township, Wanrong County, Yuncheng City, Shanxi Province. Yuncheng City attaches great importance to this. The main person in charge of Yuncheng Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau led a team to the site for inspection at the first time. The main person in charge of Wanrong County Party Committee and the county government led the heads of relevant departments to work on the site. The deputy county head in charge continued to work on the site. Wanrong Branch of Yuncheng Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau, the county public security bureau, Guanghua Township Government and other relevant departments closely cooperated to basically complete the disposal of solid waste pollution (see figure). Wanrong Branch of Yuncheng Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment took the lead in establishing a special investigation team for aluminum ash illegally stacked in Qiao Village. The survey found that from April 2020 to November 2021, Mr. Yuan, Fan Village, Nanzhang Township, Wanrong County, used transport trucks to transport 5765.18 tons of aluminum ash in batches to the south cliff of the original farm in Qiao Village for stacking without going through relevant environmental protection procedures and obtaining a hazardous waste business license. The stacked aluminum ash is packed in ton bags, and the top and bottom are covered with plastic cloth for simple sunscreen and anti-seepage treatment. At present, the County Public Security Bureau has taken criminal detention measures against Mr. Yuan, and the case is under further investigation. For the illegally stacked aluminum ash, Wanrong Branch of Yuncheng Ecological Environment Bureau contacted the Guanghua Township Government, allocated personnel and vehicles, and transferred them to enterprises with disposal conditions before September 7. Wanrong Branch of Yuncheng Ecological Environment Bureau also entrusted Shanxi Geophysical and Chemical Exploration Institute Co., Ltd. to detect the pollution of soil and groundwater. Guanghua Township Government held a township wide cadre meeting to conduct a comprehensive and detailed investigation on the waste ditches, wastelands and abandoned plants within its jurisdiction. It is reported that, next, Wanrong Branch of Yuncheng Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau will promote the establishment of a regular screening mechanism for solid wastes and hazardous wastes, as well as a production supervision mechanism for enterprises, to ensure that problems are found in time and handled as early as possible. The villages and towns in the county will rely on the grid system of social governance to conduct grid screening of environmental violations. (Liu Xinshe)
