Looking back on the military years of 98 year old Red Army Ma Zhangsuo: The sound of bugles shakes the mountains and rivers

The left hand is akimbo, and the right hand holds the "number". Hold your head high. Ma Zhangsuo, a 98 year old Red Army veteran, demonstrates playing the bugle in a standard bugler posture. The excitement moved the reporter. "Father doesn't often say he's in the army." Ma Shufang, the youngest daughter, said that she often heard him humming a ticking tune before and after meals or when her father went downstairs to exercise. "I didn't make any great contribution to the country, and it's all in the past..." Over the years, Ma Zhangsuo, who doesn't like to make public, rarely mentioned his revolutionary experience. As he grew older, Ma Zhangsuo's memories of the details of the battle had turned into a distant "light spot" in time. However, when he mentioned his experience as a bugler more than 80 years ago, his memory immediately became clear. "How sacred the cause of fighting for the poor is, and it is more significant than having enough to eat." In 1924, Ma Zhangsuo was born in a poor farmer's family in Yanchi, Ningxia. At the age of 7, his mother died of illness. Not long after, the father of the peddler "disappeared" in the streets. Young Ma Zhangsuo and his two sisters live hard by herding sheep. Until the age of 12, Ma Zhangsuo realized that "the world outside has changed". In 1936, the cavalry regiment of the 15th Red Army Corps stationed in Yanchi, sent small teams to each village to publicize the situation of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, mobilized the masses to fight devils as the Red Army and defend the country. "I was young at that time, and I couldn't fully understand what they said." With the simple idea of "walking with the Red Army can eat enough", Ma Zhangsuo and his two partners signed up to join the army. At first, the head of the army saw that Ma Zhangsuo was weak, so he was assigned to the cavalry regiment headquarters, and later to the health corps. Ma Zhangsuo saw the Red Army fight local tyrants, divide fields and protect people, and his passion for fighting for the poor burned in his chest. "You are so young that you are not afraid of sacrifice on the battlefield?" "Not afraid! I will fight as you fight!" Ma Zhangsuo's determination moved the superior leaders. He was incorporated into the Security Command of the Shaanxi Gansu Ningxia Border Region and became a signalman. In 1938, Ma Zhangsuo, two years older, became taller and stronger. He followed the communications staff to learn to play the bugle and served as the commander. At that time, the curtain of the national war of resistance had begun. The main force of the Eighth Route Army marched into the Daqingshan area, created and developed the Daqingshan anti Japanese guerrilla base, and launched arduous armed struggle with the enemy. In the face of the Japanese aggressors' relentless mopping up, Ma Zhangsuo's troops went to Suiyuan to fight with the Eighth Route Army's Daqingshan Detachment. "On the other day, when my comrades in arms and I rushed into a courtyard, we saw a Japanese soldier with a child on his bayonet..." When recalling the past, Ma Zhangsuo choked up several times and could not speak. The bugle sobbed blood. "I suddenly felt how sacred the cause of fighting for the poor is, which is more significant than having enough to eat!" Ma Zhangsuo tied his pure revolutionary belief to the red silk flying on the marching horn; To melt the hatred of the enemy into the clarion call. Ma Zhangsuo once made a serious mistake. Once, the cavalry met bandits on the way to march. "Commandant!" Kang Jianmin, the commander of the regiment, shouted to Ma Zhangsuo, "Follow my orders, charge three times and wait two times
