"Thank you for coming, and we look forward to hearing the suggestions from Chinese experts!" said Murtaza Shah, Mayor of Dadu City, Sindh Province, southern Pakistan, excitedly, holding the hands of visiting Chinese experts. Dadu area is the worst flooded area in Sindh Province this year. The flood control expert group of the Chinese government conducted an on-site inspection here on the 16th. While inspecting the local flood discharge canal, irrigation canal and flooded area, they asked Pakistani personnel for specific information about the disaster. "What is the proportion of local precipitation and mountain torrents in the flood?" "What are the conditions on the left bank and the right bank of the river?" "What are the difficulties in flood discharge?" "Can we have a look at this position on the map?"... Chinese experts have serious exchanges and discussions with Pakistani personnel. "Pakistan has basically entered the post disaster reconstruction stage at this stage. The arrival of the flood control expert group of the Chinese government can help us better analyze the causes of the flood and help us improve our ability to prevent and mitigate disasters," Said Salman Shah, director of the Sindh Disaster Management Bureau, told reporters. According to the Pakistan National Disaster Management Bureau, since the middle of June, all kinds of disasters caused by heavy rainfall in Pakistan have affected 33 million Pakistanis. At present, there is still a large area of ponding in some areas of Sindh Province, and flood control facilities in many places need to be strengthened. "The members of the flood control expert group of the Chinese government who went to Pakistan this time have all participated in the command, decision-making, organization and coordination of major flood disasters, and are very experienced," said Xu Xianbiao, the leader of the flood control expert group and the emergency commander of the Flood Control and Drought Relief Department of the Emergency Management Department. The flood control expert group sent by the Chinese government arrived in Pakistan on the 11th of this month, exchanged work with Pakistani government officials and experts on the causes of the flood and the future flood control and disaster reduction ideas, and went to the southern Sindh Province, which was the hardest hit province, for on-site inspection. The expert group is composed of 11 people, led by the Emergency Management Department, from the Emergency Management Department, the Ministry of Water Resources, the China Meteorological Administration and other departments, covering six fields, including hydrology, meteorology, rescue and relief, disaster assessment, flood control planning and flood control management. Xu Xianbiao told the reporter that in order to improve the working efficiency during his stay in Pakistan, the expert group has established a working mechanism of domestic support and cooperation, and each expert has a team of sending units behind him. After experts obtain first-hand data and information in Pakistan, the rear staff will assist them in their analysis. "The expertise and rich experience of the Chinese expert group are impressive. With their help, we believe that we can better withstand floods and reduce losses in the future." Fahd Ijaz, deputy mayor of Milburhaas, Sindh Province, said after exchanges with visiting Chinese experts. After many days of intensive work, the expert group basically sorted out the causes and characteristics of the flood and the problems that should be paid attention to in the follow-up reconstruction work. Based on the results of this visit and exchange, the expert group will provide Pakistan with short-term, medium-term and long-term plans and suggestions to enhance flood control and disaster reduction capacity in stages. "Thank the Chinese government for its full support for Pakistan's flood fighting and disaster reduction, and for sending an expert group to Pakistan in a timely manner. With the support of the Chinese expert group, Pakistan will surely recover from the disaster as soon as possible," said Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Pakistan's Foreign Minister, when meeting with the expert group.
