China's first deep-water deep atmospheric field discovered by CNOOC exploration
2022-10-21
On October 20, the reporter learned from China National Offshore Oil Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as CNOOC) that the company had made a major breakthrough in exploration in the Qiongdongnan Basin in the southeast sea area of Hainan, and found China's first deep-water deep atmospheric field, Baodao 21-1, with proved geological reserves exceeding 50 billion cubic meters. It is reported that in the field of marine oil and gas exploration, the water area with a depth of more than 300 meters is generally referred to as deep water, and the well with a depth of more than 3500 meters is defined as deep well. The Baodao 21-1 Gas Field discovered this time is located in the deep-water area in the southeast sea area of Hainan. The maximum operating water depth exceeds 1500 meters, and the completed drilling depth exceeds 5000 meters. It is about 150 kilometers away from the "Deepwater No.1" atmospheric field. The marine geological conditions are extremely complex. (The "Offshore Oil 982" drilling discovered the Baodao 21-1 gas field.) Wu Keqiang, chief geologist of Hainan Branch of CNOOC, said that with the deepening of the formation, the quality of basic data such as earthquake has become worse, and the difficulty of reservoir prediction, gas bearing analysis, and structure implementation has doubled, as well as the difficulty of drilling. The successful discovery of Baodao 21-1 shows that China has made an important breakthrough in deep water exploration technology, which is of great guiding significance to the exploration of similar strata. (Work scene of "Offshore Oil 982" drilling platform staff.) Zhou Xinhuai, deputy general manager of CNOOC, said: "CNOOC will continue to increase its efforts in the exploration and development of natural gas in the sea areas around Hainan, accelerate its march into the deep sea, deepen deep sea geological understanding and technological innovation, and actively increase the proportion of natural gas reserves with the goal of discovering large and medium-sized gas fields." According to the overall planning of CNOOC, by 2025, China's Yinggehai, Qiongdongnan and Pearl River Mouth basins will have an overall proven natural gas reserve of 1 trillion cubic meters, and a "trillion cubic meter atmospheric area" will be built. Through the completed "Yacheng Hong Kong" undersea gas transmission pipeline, high-quality clean energy from the seabed will be directly connected to the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area and Hainan Island, providing a strong guarantee for regional construction and energy structure transformation.
